I’m skipping down memory lane throwing this one in here. Still pretty early in my songwriting. You can tell, it’s a little darker, asks a little more thought of the listener and, on top of it all, poses the challenge to wring life of its pain and live intentionally–even if your purpose, like raindrops, lasts only a moment.
Gone are the days of old when talk was cheap but words were gold
And a lover’s smile could brighten up the world
Heroes and broken dreams fall to the ground, shattering
Why must we all dance this dance with time
And we ask questions of life
Little children longing for a chance to fight
Is it all for nothing
to betray this mocking fear
inside our minds and escape as water
In the hope that freedom brings
a love to unlock suffering
Honey don’t fall for the pain, it lies
Fall like the rain
Faded are flowers torn from the roots of reason and the leaves of love
So why do you live your days alone
Does your courage reach beyond the walls
of belief you’re standing on
What is the meaning of a fall
Cho.
Don’t ask for wisdom
Ask for breath
In time you’ll remember to forget
Weather your strength on the land
Cause we’ve never traveled out of hand
All our blood, it circles like the rain
Cho.
