When David Vaughan and I sat down to write Blindsided, we were both headfirst in new loves, though both presented us with difficult situations to overcome. Naturally, all our writing session spitballing came down to the happiness of getting blindsided by love–even love that is unlikely. Our song-turned-Christmas gift signified the beginnings of two pairs of lives that love on today. ;)
:for Ryan and Jordan:
Everyone only talks about what could go wrong
and it’s only a matter of time
till your heart gets broken and tears start to flow
the stars fall out of line
But you only see one sky
and it’s not gray
it’s not pouring
there can’t be no thunder rolling
when love is soaring
There’s nothing you can do
you can’t even see it comin’ when it hits you
and you go flying
spins you around
till your upside-down
don’t try to fight it
you’ve been blindsided
Everyone always talks about reckless love
it’s so dangerous
leaves you with nothing
just hearts on the floor
cold and losing trust
It’s safe to say that nothing’s safe with you
and I can see it
but i don’t want to be safe
I only want to be true
to a love I can believe in
There’s nothing you can do
you can’t even see it comin’ when it hits you
and you go flying
spins you around
till your upside-down
don’t try to fight it
you’ve been blindsided
