Motif Music&Lyrics are always changing, because I’m always writing (and rewriting!) another verse, or amending a chorus. Revisiting unfinished songs can spark new ideas and sometimes the passage of time gives you just what you need to finish them.
Though I’m sifting through half-baked ideas even as I plan for the LP, I’m trying not to change any of my old songs to match how I’m thinking now, or my direction for the LP. Those that have been around for years, i.e. If You Let Me, are stills of where I was in my writing and in my life, so changing them is kind of unfair. I like to leave those testaments untouched.
Since I’m recording the LP to reflect my present mentality, some of those original and pre-motif tunes won’t make the cut; however, I intend to record and make them available anyways. Maybe I’ll do a -Yesterdays- project or something. Hmm…we’ll see. Subscribe to the Music&Lyrics feed for specific M&L updates!
